And So It Goes…#430

I’ve started the petition “Parliament: That zero hours contracts be declared unlawful and Parliament conduct a Select Committee enquiry into Employment Agencies practices.” and need your help to get it off the ground.

Will you take 30 seconds to sign it right now? Here’s the link:

Here’s why it’s important:

The appropriate Select Committee should examine and scrutinise all policies and practices of Employment Agencies vis a vis agency staff as well as the long term unemployed. Millions of people are being adversely affected by the uncertainty and insecurity of casualised employment which has become ever more prevalent as the economic and financial crisis has gone on.In English Law it has been generally understood that a contract has to be seen to be fair and equitable to both parties and that the contracting parties are “equal” and that a contract requires that both parties giving assent do so freely. Clearly, a zero-hours contract is both unfair and inequitable when put to a legal test.It is therefore incumbent upon Parliament to declare such contracts as unlawful.
