Sir – It is a matter of recent historic record that Britain’s armed forces as part of NATO have instigated and participated in the bombing and subsequent land invasion of a series of sovereign nation states which posed no conceivable let alone imminent threat to the UK itself. Namely ,Yugoslavia ,Afghanistan and Iraq ( twice ) . Add to that Libya and now Syria ,in both cases thus far there has been no ” boots on the ground ” follow up apart from the ubiquitous presence of covert Special Forces operations and ” advisors “. All of NATo’s military adventures and regime changing have ended in confusion ,turmoil and ignominious failure. The forseeable outcome,5 or even 25 years from now in Syria will not be any different .It is therefore alarming to note that Iraq has asked the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to adopt a resolution, urging Turkey to end its “illegal incursion” and immediately withdraw its troops from the Arab country’s soil. May one inquire whether Ms.Creagh ,amongst others, will stand idly by whilst one country is invaded militarily by another ? When can we expect Parliament to authorise bombing against Turkey ?
As of 2 January ,Turkish troops remain on Iraqi soil without the consent and agreement of the Iraqi government. Naturally our cretinous politicians ,especially those supporting the USA’s neo-con foreign policy haven’t got the slightest notion as to what to say or not say. Turkey is a NATO partner whom according to the Treaty, the UK is foresworn to defend against foreign aggression. Which of course Turkey itself is not under threat from ,soWorld War 3 it will be anyway and for the ” wrong ” reasons ;after all how often does the US get to finagle an all out thermonuclear conflict with Russia and its allies ? Treaty, schmeaty push the button !!
